With over 300 species of resident and migratory birds, the Chaa Creek Nature Reserve offers some of the best birding in Belize. Our Early Morning Bird Watching tour will take you around the reserve. Our professional naturalist guides are experienced and knowledgeable birders who will help you spot many of the tropical avian species that abound in western Belize. The Keel-billed Toucan, Blue-crowned Mot-Mot and Black-headed Trogon as well as numerous species of parrots are just a few of the exotic species that await you.
We also offer daily guided birding tours to different Reserves around the Cayo District. Laguna Aguacate, a freshwater lagoon in the Spanish Lookout area is home to a wide variety of water birds. The open Savannahs of the surrounding farmlands provide excellent habitat for several species of raptors. El Pilar 50-acre Archaeological Reserve for Maya Flora and Fauna is located 10 miles north of San Ignacio astride the Belize-Guatemalan border. Miles of hiking trails wind through one of Belize's largest Classic Maya sites. Laguna Aguacate and El Pilar may be combined for a double-header extended day trip! Other great locations include the Blue Hole National Park, Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, Chechem Hah, Black Rock Canyon, Caracol Archaeological Reserve and the Chiquibul Forest Reserve.
